Sometimes it’s difficult to choose which product is right for you, especially within the same brand. In this post, I compare the Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream against the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream.

Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream
I have dry skin but when my eye area became extremely dry and irritated I was desperate to find a solution. This had not happened before and the creams I was using at the time did not help. That’s when I decided to try the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Eye Cream. It’s fairly expensive at £48.50 for 15 ml but I paid 20% less as it got it at Duty Free!
The glass jar is huge for 15ml – 30ml could fit in the same space so that was a little annoying when bringing it on the aeroplane but then unless you travel frequently, this shouldn’t be a problem. Although it is 15ml and should only be open for 6 months, the tiniest amount goes a long way and it has lasted me longer than 6 months. And when I say tiny I mean tiny. I just lightly tap each ring finger into the jar and that’s plenty.
It has a strange scent to it. To me, it smells like nuts which was difficult to tolerate when I was pregnant but I don’t notice it so much now.
The Extra Eye Repair Cream looks and feels like a thick cream but it is very easily absorbed. It leaves my skin feeling protected as if I have applied a balm, and moisturised which is what I would expect! Most importantly, at the time my eyes were irritated, it soothed them and they quickly healed up. If I remember correctly, it only took a week or so.
Due to the oils, it can be a little shiny and makeup might struggle to stay in place which is probably why the Bobbi Brown website recommends it for night-time use but I used it in the day and waited until it had sunk in a little before applying makeup.
Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream
The Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream is just that – it hydrates and leaves my eyes feeling refreshed and cooled which must be due to the aloe vera. Although it is a lighter formula than the Extra Repair cream, I find it takes longer to tap into my skin. Again, a very tiny amount is needed – the lightest tap of the ring finger is sufficient. I love to use this in summer and it is better for travel as the 15ml of product is in a proportionately sized jar.
I use this cream as a general everyday cream and I also use it at night. I haven’t had any extreme eye dryness since using it so it is probably helping to keep that at bay. It costs £33.50 and is advertised as being for all skin types.
I don’t rely on creams to combat puffiness and darkness – I find that sleep and water are the most effective methods of dealing with those issues. If all else fails, an eye mask, corrector and concealer also help.
The Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream moisturises and protects without being greasy (unless I apply too much), and it actually repaired the damage which was what I wanted it to do. Even though I’m not a fan of the scent, I would purchase it again if the skin around my eyes became very dry again. For most of the time, the Hydrating Eye Cream is perfectly fine and the main benefit is that is it more affordable so I would also purchase it again.
