As a lover of all things sparkly and glamourous, I find it difficult to resist Christmas makeup collections. They tend to come in beautiful packaging and brands generally like to get creative with shades, plus they might bring our sets or mini’s which are great value for money.
Bobbi Brown do gorgeous collections each year and as soon as I could afford to buy some pieces I was hooked! I have been given pieces from a MAC Cosmetics Christmas collection before and last year I made sure I bought the Pat McGrath Labs palettes.

They make a great gift because your recipient is unlikely to have a Christmas collection piece already. If they are that enthusiastic and already have it, brilliant! You’ve given them a back-up of something they love and can’t buy again because it’s limited edition. Win-win!
Here’s a few pieces I picked out for myself by Fenty Beauty, Evolve Organic Beauty, Pat McGrath Labs and Bobbi Brown.
Fenty Beauty
I love that Fenty Beauty is available from Boots. You can earn points on your purchases and use those points for more purchases! It’s also very convenient. That’s how I funded my purchases this time around.
I picked up the mini Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in Undefeated (I believe). It’s an incredibly flattering purple so I’m really upset that I cannot find it! I’ve looked all over my home but it is well hidden. I hope it will turn up. I think it came in packaging that you can hang on your tree which is a cute touch but I just ripped it open and used it!
I really wanted to try the brown Fenty Beauty lip gloss so I bought the Fenty Beauty GLOSSY POSSE Mini Gloss Bomb Collection. The brown one is called Hot Chocolit and I love it. There are three other new shades and the classic fu$$y which I also love. This is a mini set which will please many a Fenty fan! It comes in a reusable metal tin which is handy.
The Fenty Beauty Body Lava’s are pricey so although I’ve wanted to try them, I just couldn’t bring myself to spend all that money on something I might not like. Of course, I had to snap up the mini version of Who Needs Clothes for £19 and wow, I’m so glad I did!
I can see that a few more sets have been released but I’ve run out of Advantage Card points. I wonder if anyone is going to buy me gift vouchers…
Evolve Organic Beauty
I love minis because they are affordable and travel friendly. Evolve brought out some minis which can be hung on the tree so I chose 10ml Hyaluronic Serum 200, my favourite hyaluronic acid, and 30ml Daily Renew Facial Cream which I think I might have tried but I wanted to make sure before I invested in a full size.
Pat McGrath Labs
Pat McGrath Labs is a luxury brand with a price point to match so I avoid buying products I already have even if they come out in limited edition packaging (except the Star Wars collection but that’s for another day). I therefore choose brand new products and this year I went for two of the Blitz Astral Quads and the two ChromaLuxe Hi-Lite Creams.
I would say that the Ritualistic Rose quad is the easiest to wear to ease yourself into colour. The metallic shades in gold, bronze and pink make a pretty wash of colour when used dry and I’m excited to try them wet. I’ve tried the Nocturnal Nirvana quad wet and well, the results speak for themselves! I like to go for the boldest, brightest colours so Nocturnal Nirvana was my first choice and there’s not much pink in my collection so I had to get the other palette.
As for the ChromaLuxe Hi-Lite Creams, I love highlighter so I wasn’t going to choose one or the other. It had to be both!
Bobbi Brown
So, Bobbi Brown decided to play the sparkle-wrapped lipstick game this year! I’m going to write a separate post on those gems. There were several shades but I have far too many lip colours so I just went for Ruby Slipper. It’s too pretty to use though!
I also picked up the Luxe Gems eyeshadow palette and again it is far too pretty to use! Why do I do this? Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, both are now sold out.
However, do not despair! There are three limited edition Luxe Eye Shadow Rich Gemstone individual eyeshadows. I finally have all three and they are so pretty! Citrine will easily and instantly make you feel glamourous – just add mascara and go. Royal Sapphire will let to do an easy sparkly smokey eye and Opal Moonstone can give a pretty wash of colour by day or use as an inner corner highlight at night.
