Pat McGrath Labs Mothership II Sublime challenge

The Facebook challenge continues with the next palette, Pat McGrath Labs Mothership II Sublime. I always wanted this one – the green is simply irresistible! Make sure you check out the Mothership I Subliminal post too.

Again, there are some staple products used throughout:

Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Primer, Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Foundation in Medium 19 and Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Setting Powder in Medium 3, otherwise known as Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection The System plus Mehron Mixing Liquid to apply the eyeshadow wet and Pat McGrath Labs FetishEyes Mascara.

I thought using the eyeshadows dry would be quicker but all I did was keep adding more and more shades because they are all so pretty!

I started with Dark all over the lid and blended it out to just above the crease (I have hooded eyes). I then used my finger to swipe Bronze 005 over my lid only. As I’m writing I have to pause to appreciate Bronze 005. Wow! I then tapped VR Nectar onto the centre of my eyelid, Astral Ghost Orchid on the  inner corner and used Skinshow Glow as my brow highlight. I used Dark under the lower lash line and Pat McGrath Labs PermaGel ultra glide eye pencil in BLK Coffee on the lower waterline. I then decided I needed some topliner so using a damp brush I lined my eyes with Xtreme Black.

For the rest of my face I used Bronze 005 Pigment from Metalmorphosis as a cheek highlighter, Copper 005 Cream (also from Metalmorphosis) as a cream blush, and Elson MatteTrance lipstick with a touch of PermaGel ultra lip pencil in Major to tidy up the edges.

Oh, and this day I was looking extra tired so I added a little bit of Smashbox concealer under my eyes.

This one was done in a rush and in two parts! No need to bore you with that detail though. All shadows were applied dry  in this one.

Using one finger I swept Blitz Emerald over my eyelids and using another finger I popped Astral Ghost Orchid on the inner corners. Using a brush I blended Iconic into the crease and on the outer edges of my lids. Skinshow Glow wsa my brow highlight again.

I did the thinnest line ever on my upper lashline using the Perma Precision eyeliner (yay me!) and lined the lower waterline with PermaGel ultra glide eye pencil in BLK Coffee.

For my brows I sued Smashbox Brow Tech Matte Pencil in Dark Brown and Benefit 24hr Brow Setter.

On my cheeks and lips I kept it simple with Bronze 005 Pigment and Gold Astral vinyl gloss.

Look 3

This one turned out very differently. I made a wrong move and had to completely change it up!

I used Blitz Emerald wet all over my lids and into the crease and the accident happened when I inadvertently made a wing! Rose dusk was my crease shade and I put Iconic on the outer corners and Copper Toned on the inner corner.

Skinshow Glow was my brow, cheek and nose highlight. I used Rose Dusk as my blusher.

For my brows I sued Smashbox Brow Tech Matte Pencil in Dark Brown and Benefit 24hr Brow Setter again. I  lined the lower waterline with PermaGel ultra glide eye pencil in BLK Coffee and applied a generous helping of Flesh Fantasy Lust: Gloss lipgloss to my lips.

Look 4

This look ended up very different to what I had imagined. I just kept adding and adding and well, I guess I am supposed to “use without caution”!

First I used Bronze wet but put far too much on- the sun was too brigh – so I had to start again.

I used a brush to apply Dark to the crease and just above (because I have hooded eyes) but my brush was wet from cleaning it so it came out very intense! I decided to work with it. I then applied Bronze 005 wet onto my lids and when that dried I added Copper Tones to the top of my lid in the centre and blended it out across Dark. I then used Xtreme Black dry on the outer edges to deepen the corner shadow and I used it wet to line my upper and lower lashline. I used my finger to apply Astral Ghost Orchid in the inner corner and on the centre of my eyelid then I (badly) stuck on Kiss Lash Couture lashes in Corset using Dark Duo eyelash glue.

I decided it wasn’t “sublime” enough so using a wet brush I swept Blitz Emerald over the black liner on my lower lash line. I felt so much better after doing that.

For some reason my eyes were watery so I wiped away the colour at the base of my lashline on the outer corner. I liked how it looked – I’ll try that more often.

Being Sunday, I wasn’t in the mood for a whole face of makeup so just to take the photos I used Smashbox Brow Tech Matte Pencil in Dark Brown and Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer in Golden around the eye area and on my nose.

I need to play with Bronze 005 a bit more. Next time I’ll give it centre stage. I felt like a kid with a new paint palette today!
