I tried to resist buying the Liberty Advent Calendar but I failed. I failed mainly because one the products in the calendar was featured in Funmi Fetto’s book, Palette, and I thought if Funmi Fetto recommends it, I have to try it. Others are brands that lots of people can’t live without and for the rest, I just wanted to try some brands I don’t usually use.
Products I was influenced to try
The Davines Nounou hair mask was the first thing I wanted to try because of Palette. I don’t really need it but I’ll use it anyway. I’ve seen the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist but I only really, really wanted it when I saw Adeola Gboyega using it. Her skin is always so glowy and gorgeous so that’s very persuasive!
Brands and products I’ve wanted to try but haven’t yet
Diptyque is a popular brand but I haven’t tried it. The Diptyque candle in the calendar was “Baies“. It is perfect for me – I can smell rose, powder and fruit which I love. I’m due a relaxing home spa session now! I’ve always wanted to try Votary, and I love the green bottles. I now have a Super Seed Facial Oil to try, which will fit in nicely after my aforementioned home spa session. The Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair gets a double-yay from me. My eyes need the most help and this is a full-sized product. I haven’t used Dermalogica yet although I tried the Clear Start range when I was in my 20s.
Le Labo is on my “fragrance brands to try” list. I want to learn about the individual scents which is something I can do with Le Labo so I’m very happy to receive a generous 15ml Tonka fragrance.
Products I’m pleased to receive
I’m currently testing out a bunch of non-aluminium deodorants because whilst anti-perspirants are very effective, we are supposed to sweat and I’m no longer convinced that blocking my sweat glands is a good idea. Although I don’t like sweat patches either. Oh gosh, what do I do? Anyway, that’s a very long way of saying I’m pleased to receive the Aurelia Botanical Cream Deodorant with Eucalyptus, Lavender and Peppermint. I’ve got a top up of my favourite Bobbi Brown mascara – Smokey Eye Mascara, and an Aveda Cherry Almond Shampoo and Conditioner set which my hair stylist has used on me. I’m glad the Aveda minis came as a pair – I really can’t stand when you get either a shampoo or a conditioner when they are designed to work together.
To aid my home spa session, I have a dose Susanne Kaufmann Oil Bath for the Senses and three Skin Laundry Hydrating Sheet Masks. The Herbivore Orchid Facial Oil is in a gorgeous bottle and wow, this little 8ml bottle retails for £22! Presumably a little goes a very long way but it’s a facial oil, one of my favourite skincare things.
I’ve not yet heard of Vilhelm Parfumerie but I’m pleased to receive a sample of the Peony Couture fragrance which I believe is a Liberty exclusive. Fragrance is important to me and I’m always happy to discover new brands.
Products that intrigue me
Well, there is only one product that has truly piqued my curiosity and that is the Byredo Rose Rinse-Free Hand Wash. I’m pleased that there is a hand cleanser/sanitiser that looks like it actually deserves a place in my finest handbags so I’m looking forward to using this one!
The rest
The other products, as good quality as they may be, just don’t look exciting at first glance for various reasons. If you want to know why, comment below and I’ll do another post.
See you soon!
